Should You Build A Blog In A Subdomain On A WordPress Site?

In episode 131 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked if one should build a blog in a subdomain on a WordPress site.

The exact question was:

Couldn’t find the answer to that exact question: EVEN IN A WP SITE should I build the blog in a subdomain, so I can be a little more aggressive with links?

For me looks like it loses a little of power (subdomain, not on domain) but for sure is safer.
