In episode 101 of Semantic Mastery’s weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one participant asked about the best practices when using rel=canonical for the header of the blog posts syndicated to an IFTTT network.

The exact question was:

What do you guys do in terms of rel=canonical for your blog posts prior to syndication? What are your views and what’s the best way to safeguard from any type of penalty? Is there even a penalty for duplicate content anymore?
